Paul Vaudin,
Treasurer
Profile compiled: March 2007
Family life:
Married to Anne for 17 years (survived so far!). Four Irish Wolfhounds and three cats complete the family.

Committee CV:

Joined Committee in 2003, elected Treasurer in 2004.

What do you enjoy most about the Club?

Meeting and being involved with people who love their dogs. There is a good atmosphere of friendly rivalry, and although competition is keen, generally I feel that taking part is foremost in most members' minds.

Dogs currently at home:
Darcy, 5 year old bitch; Branigan, 4 year old male;
Hogan, 3 year old male; McKenna, 2 year old bitch.

Other breeds you might consider:

This is a difficult one. As a child we had a Rough Collie, the only other breed I have known.
I cannot envisage being without Wolfhounds, but as I get older down-sizing may become unavoidable. Maybe the Giant Schnauzer, which has a wonderful enquiring face - probably I view it as a small Wolfhound (apologies to Schnauzer owners!)

Beginning of show career:

First time in - neither dog nor owner much enjoyed it, but the second time we had a little success, which helps!

Highlight of show career:

Our first visit to Crufts as exhibitors - we got VHC with Hogan, and were so chuffed you would have thought it was BIS!!

Any judging experience?
None whatsoever.

Other interests:

Running: road and cross-country. I have been running for 35 years, racing over distances from 1 mile to the marathon. From time to time my body says 'enough!' but I can't stop - it's like a drug. I like most sports, but although I have a strong competitive instinct I've never been more than an average club runner, and it's always been the involvement that I have enjoyed. This has now been transferred from athletics to dog showing.
