Anne Vaudin
Show Secretary
Profile compiled: July2008
Family life:  Married to Paul for 18 years; full time 'mum' to our pack of Irish wolfhounds.

Committee CV:
Joined the committee in 2003. Became Assistant Show Secretary in 2004, and joint Show Secretary in 2005.

What do you enjoy most about the Club?
Being involved as part of a good spirited, hard-working committee, and feeling that I can contribute something worthwhile. A club is only as good as its willing members.
Dogs currently at home:  Three Irish wolfhounds: Darcy, a six year old bitch, the pack leader; Hogan, a four year old male, who is the Torteval village idiot; and last but never least, McKenna, our three year old Czech import.

Branigan, our five year old male, was the pack comedian and the best show dog we never had. He was never shown as he injured his back as a puppy and was permanently lame. He was diagnosed with bone cancer just before Christmas, and was put to sleep on 30 June as we could no longer control his pain - but we couldn't leave him out of the list.

Other breeds you might consider:
I suppose a time will come when we will have to downsize, but until then it's hard to imagine life without wolfhounds.

Beginning of show career:
We began tentatively in about 2000 with Chewbacca, a four year old re-homed male whose litter brother was a UK champion, but didn't take to it at all - we found the whole business quite bizarre! When we had Darcy as a pup we promised her breeder we'd have another go . . .

Highlight of show career:
Watching Paul handle McKenna to a reserve CC at Richmond last year under Robin Searle. When he stepped forward from the line-up I was convinced he'd made a deeply embarrassing faux pas - I just couldn't believe the reserve CC was really ours!

Other interests:
My other main interest is building and maintaining websites, but all dog-related, I'm afraid. Dogs in general, and wolfhounds in particular, pretty much dominate my life. If I had to name my version of heaven it would be walking my hounds early in the morning on the Pleinmont cliffs . . . and I get to do it every day - who could ask for more?
