The system and scale of points have been carefully devised to ensure winners are worthy of the title. Sixty points are required and these are awarded at the three Open Shows, Spring, Autumn and Winter, held in Guernsey and open to dogs registered in the Channel Islands.
To ensure a dog will not be imported for the sole purpose of winning the award, it must have been resident in the islands for twelve months. Points will be awarded during this time but a claim cannot be made until this period has elapsed.
On winning twenty points a dog will be awarded a certificate to mark this achievement, and on attaining three a claim may be made. These must be in writing, giving dog's name, wins and shows entered, and forwarded to:
The Official Recorders, Mrs C Bligh and Miss P Gaved, The Bounty, Salines Lane, St Sampson's, Guernsey, GY2 4FL, who will verify such claim to the Committee's satisfaction, after which a framed certificate with the dog's photograph will be presented.
Once awarded, the dog receives lifetime Crufts qualification, and the owner may use Pd'H after its name when entering all Channel Island, UK and foreign shows, and on all documentation relating to the dog.
Exhibitors are advised to keep a record of each dog's wins.
